This week, we are crushing on the Gold Coast-based duo Liam Bowditch and Joe Bon MacPhail from The Vultures with their upcoming debut album ESCOBAR. This talented duo have undeniable in the pocket chemistry on stage and in the studio. The band describe themselves as explorative rock and roll who are not shy of taking risks to push the boundaries of their sonic palette. With the careful cultivation of groovy anthems, The Vultures are thrilled to debut.
Officially forming in 2013 but self-producing and jamming in their garage since 2008, The Vultures released two self-titled EPs and a loose single (aka ‘Night Rock’) in their first two years which earned them several accolades. After a five-year hiatus, Bowditch and MacPhail rekindled the fire journeying to Berlin, spurring the release of comeback anthems ‘Every Night’, ‘If You Only Knew Your Way’ and ‘Conversations’.  “We started recording our album Escobar in Berlin in late 2019, working on ‘Every Night’ and ‘Uncomfortable Unknown’. We moved back to Australia in 2020. The pandemic was unfolding, but we didn’t know at the time how long it’d last, so we moved to Melbourne from the Gold Coast, excited to embrace the city, only to get locked down for 6 months in the same room together. Those lockdowns brought as closer than ever before to our creative work. We burst out of quarantine back home on the Gold Coast with high spirits to work on tracks ‘If You Only Knew Your Way’, ’Another Minute’ and ‘Conversations’. We returned to the live stage in March 2022 for the first time in 6 years to launch our third single ‘Conversations’ and then we went back to the studio to finish the remaining tracks ‘Hello’, ‘Two Decades’, ‘Phase’, ‘Escobar’ and ‘Do You Wanna Change?’.
Watch this space as it's only the beginning.....
