The Glorious Sons have surprised us with a duo single release: “Hold Steady” and “I Will Destroy The Void In You”!
The first one to be released of the two, “I Will Destroy The Void In You” is a big leap for the band. The song is a change of pace; it’s slow and introspective, contrasting their heavier rock songs.
“This one’s just a few chords and some confessions. It’s one of my favourites we’ve ever recorded,” shares lead singer Brett Emmons. “I was hoping to avoid taking it to the peak, and somehow still keep it interesting. Koster was hugely important in landing this plane. It’s a way that nobody has heard us sound before.”
With “Hold Steady”, they’ve used a a bluesy rock riff to bookend the four-song session which yielded the highly celebrated and acclaimed tracks “Daylight”, “Young King” and last week’s dreamy sonic release “I Will Destroy The Void In You”
Speaking of the single “Hold Steady,” lead singer Brett Emmons shares, “the chorus is one of the oldest things I had kicking around in my head. We actually tried to find a home for it on The Union, but it wasn’t until a few months back, when I finished writing that bluesy, acoustic riff that you hear at the top of the song, that the melody and chorus just kind of popped back into my head and found its forever home.”
This duo release is a perfect example of the range and talent The Glorious Sons have!
