This week we are crushing hard on the latest release from SonReal, his five track EP “i can’t make this up.” He’s been warming us up for this EP for quite a few months now, since releasing the singles “bank on me” and “bananas” both included on the EP.
Of the EP SonReal shares, “This EP was a very full circle moment for me because I recorded the majority of it by myself which is how I started making music. Something is special about this body of work to me. My producer Trevor and I were forced to think outside the box. I had to get back to recording my own vocals in a bedroom. No flashy studio, nobody to do the work for me. There’s something special about that and it made me hungry to be better. Though this is only 5 songs it feels like a mini album and shows what we are capable of. This is only the beginning. I can’t make this up.”
Much like the aforementioned singles, we are going crazy over this EP. The EP’s feature track “right before my eyes” sees SonReal play with some pop sounds that separate him from his usual sound. But fear not, SonReal is still well and truly serving hip hop throughout this EP. “Right Before My Eyes is a song I always knew I would write. It’s about life and how you can never fully decide how it unfolds but you can trust yourself and do your best. It has multiple layers and meanings to me but it’s a song I wanted to let the listener feel & relate to the lyrics as they wish,” said SonReal.
We can't wait to see the success that this EP brings to SonReal!
