Reb Fountain has finally released her long awaited album, IRIS! Featuring her four singles, “Heart,” “Beastie,” “Lacuna” and “Foxbright” we are now ready to dive into the world of IRIS.

Fountain was inspired by Greek goddesses for two of her songs. The first being “Psyche”, the opening track with a haunting violin and piano intro that explores how humans move through tragedy. Continuing with “Foxbright”, her latest single, she reminds us that love exists outside of ourselves. “Invisible Man” speaks to our nature to crave that which is unattainable to us, especially during times of trouble.

“Heart” and “Beastie” are two of the four singles that Reb has wowed us with this year. The prior, a spell-binding tune about unrequited love and longing. The latter, a reflective piece about choosing who you want to be, while acknowledging the parts of yourself that already exist: the good, the bad, and the ugly. “Lacuna”, the third of Reb’s previous single releases, is folk-rock heavy with tiny percussion and echoic reverb guitars.

Reb on writing the album,“I tried to catch the light refracting - the full saturation of suchness – and remain open to whatever emerged. The space we found at Sublime and the tight-knit connection that we held was intricately woven into the fabric of IRIS during the writing, production and recording process. IRIS provided me an opportunity to speak my unspoken, to reflect what I have seen and experienced from within and to bear witness. These songs are a reminder of a map to a place we all know. They are a vision of our past, a memory of our future and high beam headlights whether you’re behind the wheel or staring down the barrel of their glare. They are a story of endless unrequited love and the hunt for tethering to a kindred spirit.

With a deep bass, somber violin, and religious references “Fisherman” is a call to action. Reb opens our eyes to the horrible realities of our world and how we react to them. Thanks to Peggy Seer’s blessing, Reb was able to include her cover of “Swim To The Star”, a socially relevant song, on the album. Finishing off with “Intermission”, the track has a groovy psychedelic vibe that shows us how we can successfully navigate life and make it out alive.

As expected, IRIS is a masterpiece. We are continuously impressed with Reb Fountain’s talent and depth!
