This week we’re crushing on Melbourne singer-songwriter Mijo’s new single, “You’ve got your life.” Mijo artfully constructed a track that has a bright indie surf-rock sound, but a darker subject matter, which gives the track depth, while remaining lively and fun. Mijo’s inspiration for the track came about, “Through the loss of a close friend I reflected on the fact that he was gone, forever, yet I was still here. Life is precious. Life is precarious. There is a chasm between being merely alive, and fully living a life. This song implores you to seek the latter.” Touching on a usually existential subject from a more optimistic perspective, Mijo created something feel-good and inspiring. The lyric “you’ve got your life, so what are you going to do with it” sits with you and is a force fire for activity and change. This track is perfect listening if you need a change of perspective, or something fun to keep a good aura cultivating in your life. Add it to your morning playlist to get you pumped for the day ahead!
