Maggie Andrew has delivered the final part in her musical trilogy: “Survival Mode”. This single is deeply personal and another display of Maggie’s talent and vulnerability.
The lyrics are the main focus of this track. With a soft piano accompanying her powerful vocals, Maggie sings about the difficulties of feeling alone and the other negative feelings that arise when someone is in that isolated head space as a result of painful experiences.
"I’ve been in a constant state of survival for as long as I can remember. Being alone drowning in my own self deprecating thoughts and traumatic experiences,” said Maggie. “Even though it’s sad, it’s comfortable being alone, I never want anybody to feel bad for me. Survival Mode was a release of a lot of heavy emotions and a very honest unapologetic expression of self."
The lyricism and music video for “Survival Mode” are an expression of loneliness in a beautiful, artistic format that can be appreciated and that many can relate to. This is by far the most stripped-back and vulnerable installment of Maggie Andrew’s trilogy. Her willingness to be open about her emotions, even the darkest ones, is truly admirable!
