This week we have a crush on Dutch artists Tessa Doustra known under the moniker LUWTEN, who just released her latest single “Sleeveless”. Formerly focusing on music surrounding the introverted and embracing your own solitude and appreciating the comfort in being alone, Tessa is now exploring the opposite vision, which is discovering solace with others and finding comfort with others in the room, which is known to be difficult for many.
Even with her song meanings drifting from her prior EP, LUWTEN maintains the electro-inspired, dark pop elements in her music that we all adore and love along with her unceasing, smooth and angelic vocals. “Sleeveless” consists of spliced artificial sounds mixed with organic instrumentation while including a large arrangement of influences varying from R&B to jazz, and electronica and minimalism. Her music sounds pure and effortless due to it’s somewhat simple indie melodies, yet feels complex, profound and placed as if every sound is there for a reason which is to be interpreted on a deeper level.
The true meaning of familiarity and empathy in LUWTEN’s music lies within the process itself, she is always looking for new pathways and experiences without the manual first, determined towards opening up, allowing outside influence and evolving with her music as she does herself.
Now that we’ve received a taste of LUWTEN’s newest music, we’re very much looking forward to more.
