​Lance Gurisik’s sophomore album, "PROFFER," released on August 23, 2024, is a testament to his innovative prowess in contemporary music. Gurisik’s debut album, "CULL PORTAL," set a high bar, blending modal jazz with electronic influences and earning critical acclaim, including a nomination for Best Jazz Album at the ARIAs and being named The Guardian UK's Contemporary Album of the Month. With "PROFFER," Gurisik dives even deeper into the realms of experimental music, drawing inspiration from a diverse array of musical influences, including German krautrock hero Manuel Göttsching, French synth legends AIR, minimalist composer Terry Riley, and classical maestros Ralph Vaughan Williams and Alexander Scriabin.
"PROFFER" opens with "STASIS," setting the tone for the album with its rich, textured soundscapes that immediately transport the listener into Gurisik’s meticulously crafted world. The transition to "PREDNISONE" is seamless, as the track captures the manic and hyper-focused state induced by the medication Prednisone, reflecting a turbulent period in Gurisik’s life with intense electronic beats and haunting melodies.
