We’ve had a long term crush on Jade Bird and with the release of her second album Different Kinds of Light, we can confidently say that we’re in love!

Filled with emotion and reminiscent of 90s alternative rock, this album is the perfect soundtrack for a car ride with your friends. Each song is jammable and brings its own edge. Jade Bird’s raw emotions and authenticity are part of what makes her such an incredible artist.

Jade isn’t afraid to bring it on with her music, with Different Kinds of Light she’s taken her sound to the next level; proving that her talent goes beyond vocals and songwriting. Her powerful voice only emphasises the lyrics and instrumentation in songs like “Open Up The Heavens”. This album has the  inclusion of rock elements in its production which are proving Jade’s maturing sound. While Jade is ever-evolving, she has maintained the alternative aspects of her music that we all know and love throughout this album.

On the record Jade says, "Different Kinds of Light at its most basic is about falling in love and at its most complex, the chaos of trying to get away from your past. I’ve written about fictional characters, about myself and people who don’t exist or at least only exist in my mind, memory and imagination. This record started in Japan, a small getaway from a busy year. We took it to Mexico, to Nashville and to upstate New York adding pieces of songs along the way until it became the different phases of who I am, what my relationship is and what my relationship to other people has become. It’s been a big exploration through evenings and mornings spent under strange skies. With Different Kinds of Light came different kinds of clarity in my life."

It’s clear with this album that Jade Bird has a newfound confidence and is ready to take on the world. We can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us this year!
