This week we’re crushing on “Papillon”, the newest release by London act, Blanco White. Following in the footsteps of his previous releases, “Papillon” is yet another track that is rich with depth, and an interesting blend of musical influences. Blanco White’s music has previously been described as Anglo-American folk, with Flamenco and Andean influences, which has really aided in his cultivation of a unique sound. “Papillon” is a soft and dreamy track, led by a gentle acoustic guitar, where White demonstrates his impressive fingerstyle skills. His voice is warm and ethereal, balancing perfectly over the gentle track. The single’s inspiration was found from Henri Charrière’s book of the same name, Blanco white explained “It was a very important book to a friend of mine, and it left a similar impact on me. Most of the story takes place surrounded by water, so I wanted the song to have a shimmering and rippling feel to it.”  He definitely succeeded in creating a shimmering effect, as his guitar work can almost be mistaken for a harp. This track is an excellent listen and we love the hauntingly beautiful sound that Blanco White offers.
